I am a BACP Registered, qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor with 12 years experience of working  with many different issues life can throw at us. I work with individuals, couples and groups, both face to face and using video software.  I work in a way that places you, the client at the heart of the work as you are the expert of your own life. My role is to help you unpick or untangle what it is that you are finding painful. To work with you to safely look within and really explore your true self, without judgement, in a confidential setting.

I have a special interest in relational Trauma (Domestic Violence, Sexual Violence and Childhood Sexual Abuse), Self Esteem Work, Anxiety, Depression, Bereavement and Meaninglessness. I am trained to work with and if appropriate process trauma memories.
My counselling room is in Stevenage, Hertfordshire and I see clients from all over the County including, Hitchin, Welwyn, Knebworth, Walkern and Royston.

Counselling is a process, a journey if you like, to explore the thoughts and feelings behind what has brought you here. A journey of knowing, understanding and being with who you are, in the shadow and the light.

You may be here because you either have something in your life right now which maybe hard to deal with on your own, you are curious about counselling and wonder if it might work for you, or possibly you want to develop and grow further in your understanding of yourself, thereby enabling a way of being that copes better with life and all it brings.
During our first session we will talk about, how we will work together. Usually we would meet each week,  for an agreed number of sessions, and review at timely intervals during the course of the counselling.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can  change"     - Carl Rodgers

Counselling can be a way for people to re-connect with them self, to understand themselves and how they have come to be where they are right now. People can find  exploring this and how things are for them, very beneficial and freeing, enabling them to move through difficult situations and feelings to a place where they are more able to cope with their life situations.
I do not see my role as advising you what to do, more journeying with you, enabling clarity and understanding, so you can feel able to direct your life in which ever way you choose.
Counselling is a unique relationship which is confidential, non-judgmental and accepting - a place you can be truly you, where you can explore all of what makes you who you are,
People come to counselling for many reasons including:
Traumatic life events
Childhood Sexual Abuse
Serious illness or accident
Self esteem issues
Eating disorders
Inability to cope with life
Domestic abuse
Relationship difficulties
Loss of meaning
It is also possible that nothing is wrong at all! - Maybe you want to be all you can be, and want a professional to assist you in the journey toward healthy personal growth.
I am a member of BACP and work to their ethical framework and best practice (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists)
